Description
Red Swan Arising is an abstract expressionistic work of a ballerina arising from the depths of the earth, rather than as ballerina's usually do - ascend into the heavens - hence the tones are darker suggesting a deep brooding in the nature of the Red Swan as an almost foreboding figure, but is she? Or does she merely seek to dance the dance of the swans? Are her sub-human limbs suggestive of a woman from another place or is she merely different? Is she more passionately sensual or angry than either the black swan, or is she swathed in red as a sign of love to outshine the white swan?
Whatever the answers - she comes to dance.
