Fresh donut peaches hanging of a long heavy branch of its peach tree.
Donut peaches are in season during July and August. They are best eaten ripe right of the tree. Their flesh is tender and flavorful. Sorry they do not store well. Varieties of donut peach with fun names are Saturn, Jupiter and even Sweet Bagel. Here in South Jersey you will find them at local farmers stand but not in your average grocery stores. Every summer we await peach season and our family goes out and we pick fresh peaches. The best part is when we open a fresh canned jar in the winter. Our kids love fresh peach sauce over their oatmeal in the morning. The flavor can't be beat.
